Care Plus® Deet Anti-Insect The most effective insect repellents on the market today are Care Plus® Deet products. Registered by European governments and meeting all requirements for safety and effectiveness. DEET is widely accepted as the most effective repellent against stinging insects (mosquitoes, midges, horseflies) as well as ticks. It is suitable for both tropical destinations (risk of malaria, dengue, yellow fever) and for European regions. In 1997, 2001, and 2005 Care Plus® Deet was tested ‘BEST’ by the Dutch Consumer Association, and in 2201 and 2004 by Test- Aankoop in Belgium.. In 2004 the German consumer association also tested it as ‘GOOD’. Care Plus® recommends a DEET percentage of between 30% and 50% as an insect repellent. A DEET percentage of less than 30% is not sufficiently effective while a percentage in excess of 50% has no added value. The percentage of DEET only determines how long the repellent remains effective. Choose which form of Deet you find most suitable i.e. Spray, Lotion, or Gel. Use of products containing DEET on children: As a precaution, it is advisable to avoid using concentrations of more than 30% DEET on children under 2 years of age. Do not rub onto children’s hands, to prevent DEET coming into contact with sensory organs (mouth or eyes). Use of products containing DEET during pregnancy: Recent research has shown that DEET can be used safely during the last six months of pregnancy. During the first three months, DEET can be used in concentrations up to 30%. As a precaution, use should be kept to a minimum. How Much Do I Need?
